A UCaaS buy that starts with seats and a feature matrix usually fails in the contact center, not in the license count. Agents need audio, video, and CRM to work as one path. If those integrations are missing, a repair call becomes a hunt across tools.
That is why the live UCaaS requirements worksheet (link to https://thedatapartner.com/ucaas-requirements-worksheet/) asks for calling, collaboration, customer-experience, integration, and rollout requirements before you compare platforms. This post does not replace that worksheet. It is a supporting note on why integration belongs on it.

What the public case is actually about
A Telarus "Inside the Win" write-up (February 5, 2026) describes a dental equipment manufacturer whose contact center could not join audio and video. Diagnosing equipment issues took too long. The published story names Zoom and NovelVox after a supplier-vetting pass. It is not a Data Partner engagement, not a TDP win, and not a recommendation of those products.
Use it as a requirements example only: write down how agents capture, share, and diagnose, then decide what the platform must integrate. Do not copy the deal numbers onto a TDP page as if they were ours.
What to add to the checklist
Before a demo, fill these rows on the worksheet:
- Audio path: inbound, outbound, recording, and who owns quality.
- Video path: who records it, where it lives, and how it is shared with a technician or a supervisor.
- CRM: what the agent must see on the screen without a second login.
- Diagnosis workflow: the actual steps from "customer called" to "we know what broke."
- Rollout: sites, numbers, headsets, and who trains the first week.
If UCaaS and CCaaS are both in the mix, keep the split honest. Calling and meetings are not the same as queue, omnichannel, and quality management. The UCaaS vs CCaaS overlap note (link to https://thedatapartner.com/ucaas-vs-ccaas-where-they-overlap-and-where-they-do-not/) is the companion, not a substitute for the worksheet.

Questions that belong in the first meeting
Ask the provider to show, not describe:
- A recorded interaction that includes synced audio and video, opened from the CRM record.
- What breaks if the CRM token expires.
- Who owns the recording retention policy.
- How a supervisor finds a failed diagnosis without a screen-share scavenger hunt.
- What the first 30 days of rollout look like for one site, not a slide of "unlimited seats."
If they cannot show those, they are selling a brand, not a requirements fit.
What not to do
Do not shortlist from a logo list. Do not treat a contact-center add-on as proven because the UCaaS brochure mentions "integrations." Do not paste a Telarus PDM line or a close-rate claim onto this site. Do not publish this draft as a TDP case study.
Write the worksheet. Then compare.
